LAA first meeting of 2013 this evening at 6pm—board and officers will be introduced and we have lots of business to conduct—as Paula likes to have a hour meeting we’ll be moving rapidly and appreciate your promptness—she starts at 6pm!

Laurie Legnon as announced in the newsletter will be overseeing the Pouparts (downtown) and Nimbeaux’s exhibits—contact her with any info—we will still be doing the labels if received in time for your hanging—she will discuss with artists and will be scheduling exhibits for the balance of 2013 at Nimbeaux’s and 2014 at both locations. Contact her if you would like to exhibit!

Maria Randolph is currently exhibiting at Nimbeaux’s until April. Contact her if interested in exhibiting following Maria. Denise Broussard is currently at Poupart’s , “Shades of Raven” thru April 24, 2013.

VALENTINE SPECIAL workshop w/Pat Bourque. Pat had divided her workshop into 2 parts. As scheduled the first day will be as scheduled on Friday, February, 22, 2013. And the price change will be $60/LAA members per day and $70/non-members. ONLY 2 SPOTS LEFT SO IF YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT TAKING ON THE 22ND.
PHASE 2 has been scheduled for Friday, May 17th and will require a separate sign up—if you have paid in full you will have a credit with the price reduction as well as for the second day if you are not taking. Phase 2: “Resuscitate Your Unfinished Masterpieces”, Friday, May 17, 2013. This workshop will include oils & acrylics. (remember: this will be a new sign-up so if you registered for both you need to give the office a jingle and we’ll sign you up again!.
(just a side note: following the last Bourque workshop I received 2 calls from participants who said it was the most organized workshop they had ever taken—ty) Check your calendar and call the gallery or Pat if wanting to sign up for the Feb but especially May 17, 2013 and cash-in on the discount!!

Artwalk downtown re-scheduled for Saturday, February 16th due to Mardi Gras!! We have artists at Poupart’s and the Public Library (temp location-old Jefferson Street Market). Food, beverages & artists!!!

Freeze Frame invites due by February 15th—final deadline! As we have to mail ahead of time!

STAPLETON KEARNS WORKSHOP: PLEIN AIR WORKSHOP W/all the trimmings! We have spots left and it is so much more than painting outdoors. Google him and see what he’s all about and how he teaches!!! Amazing instructor and we’re so lucky to have him in the area! March 22-24, 2013. (we’re running ads in The Times on 2/7/ & 2/21/13. Please help us get the word out—he really is dynamic and the opportunity doesn’t come along often. Discount given to LAA members. Check your newsletter for more info or call Maria Randolph for more details—she and Denise have taken from him! The setting of the workshop will be hard to beat—with bathrooms, etc. (profits go to assist with the fund raising activities of the LAA for 2013 year—this is one way we keep our doors open!)
